Linux: supporto hardware recente
Ciao,

- scheda madre Asus Z590-P e cpu i7-11700K
- scheda madre Asus Z490-P e cpu i7-10700K

[ 1.618482] fb0: EFI VGA frame buffer device

[ 0.965094] pci 0000:00:02.0: vgaarb: setting as boot VGA device
[ 0.965094] pci 0000:00:02.0: vgaarb: VGA device added: decodes=io+mem,owns=io+mem,locks=none
[ 0.965094] pci 0000:00:02.0: vgaarb: bridge control possible
[ 0.965094] vgaarb: loaded

[ 87.276734] snd_hda_codec_hdmi hdaudioC0D2: No i915 binding for Intel HDMI/DP codec
[ 87.276865] hdaudio hdaudioC0D2: Unable to bind the codec

]

lspci | grep -i vga

apt search i915

This thread helped me to ultimately find a way to get it to work on Asus Z590-P. In case anyone else bumps into this here is what I had to do:

1. Boot install USB in compatibility mode, install
2. Boot Mint in compatibility mode. When it booted it had no video or LAN drivers
3. I downloaded and installed 5.12 deb packages manually. 5.12 doesn't work for video, but it did enable LAN. You may be able to save time by downloading 5.10 manually
4. As said before 5.12 enabled LAN but still only booted in compatibility mode. So I installed 5.10 using the command in this thread. It installed 5.10.0-1029-oem
5. 5.10 booted with quiet splash, but still showed driver error. inxi -Fxz showed no driver for the video card. Didn't detect the 2nd monitor
6. I used Mainline to install the latest version of 5.11. 5.11 wouldn't boot normally, however, after that 5.10 showed the driver and detected the 2nd monitor!
7. So I used Mainline to remove 5.11. Driver remained. Now it boots normally into 5.10 with quiet splash, inxi -Fxz shows the i915 driver, both monitors work as expected.

Notes:
- Left Shift does nothing, had to use Esc and get into recovery mode that way
- I used 5.12 deb packages for Ubuntu. Did have errors during installation, but it did install enough
